Am I Back?!?!?!
Only time will answer that question!! I will say that I am so surprised to
have finished a second custom in less than 30 days after the last one. I
already have the parts for my next custom and I am anxious to get started on
that one as well.

I was able to get Zartan's new Swamp Skier, the
Basilisk completed. I
was inspired by a few custom Chameleons that I found images of while I was
searching for ideas for
Zartan. I took the one I liked the most and added a
few new items to it. It is the first time I have really copied someone else's
recipe for custom, but I like the result. I am very happy with how the
Basilisk turned out, what do you think?

There has not been a lot of activity in my personal life since my last
update, work seems to make sure I do not have much of a personal life. I have
not been happy at work for a while, and middle management sucks. For the
first time in my career I am actually concerned about how soon I can retire.

     The
Walking Dead Season 3 has come to a close. I can say that I did not
enjoy this season as much as I did Season 2. There were several WTF
moments in the movie, like when
T-Dog and Lori died. I really like the
character of
Michonne and totally despised "the Governor". I have to say
that I will miss the character of
Merle and I thought the video below was a
perfect tribute.

I am anxious for the next DLC Map-Pack "Uprising" for
Call of Duty:
Black OPs II to come out. Alcatraz looks like the perfect place for the
Zombie story to continue. The other 4 multi-player maps look great, but I
have to admit that I am a much bigger fan of the zombie maps, than I am of
the multi-player maps. PS3 needs to release ASAP after April 16th.

I did get a chance to see the new
G.I. JOE Retaliation movie with my life
long friend, and fellow fan of the G.I. JOE universe, SEV54 aka Shawn. He
and I have spent countless hours in that universe; playing as a child, talking
about as an adult, and making customs of the characters as we envision them.
This movie was by far the closest to what the G.I. JOE Universe is like in
mind. I highly recommend seeing this movie to any fan of G.I. JOE. My son
went with us to the movie and it saddens me to know that he will never
understand or know all of the excitement that G.I. JOE brought to my
childhood. He just lives in a different time. I feel a rant here.

Reviving the G.I. JOE Toy Line
The recent release of the G.I.
JOE Retaliation movie could be
an opportunity for Hasbro to
return G.I JOE to its glory days
of the 1980's. I had the pleasure
of seeing this movie recently
with my friend Shawn and my 10
year old son. This movie sparked
interest and excitement with my
10 year old son that could be
capitalized on. If Hasbro would
simply follow Kirk Bozigian's
presentation of the
marketing
plan of G.I. JOE from the 80's,
with some updates, G.I. JOE
could return to its glory days.
Step 1: 5 Year Marketing Plan
Determine 60 figures that you
want to release over 5 years,
releasing 12 new characters per
year. The first wave would be 6
most notable characters with 2
per case. 2 more waves would be
produced that year that would be
broken down with 3 new
characters with 2 per case, and
the remaining 6 would be repacks
of favorites. The wave
assortments would continue like
this over the remaining 4 years.
Step 2: Quality Figure Sculpting
Hire a sculpting team for the 5
year project!! It seems like
every year the current toy line is
being restarted and it looks like
each time there is a new person
in charge of sculpting.
Step 3: Unique Character Package
Make the packaging unique to the
character. Part of the allure of
an action figure is the package.
The package needs to bring the
character to life with an action
pose of the character and a
unique biography for the
character. Make the card back a
collectible item again.
Step 4: New Exciting Story Line
Keep the story line from G.I.
JOE Retaliation alive, it is a
great story and is believable.
Expand on that story with
additional movies or with a quality
animated cartoon.
Step 5: Video Game Interactive
Make the toy line interactive.
Kids these days have limited
interest in action figures.
However they have a lot of
interest in video games. Develop
a strategy to combine the two
mediums. Sell the first 6 figures
with a base video game. The price
point should be reasonable.
Remember the goal is to get kids
to buy the items.
Step 6: Video Game Development
Hire a video game developer that
is capable of making a quality
product on the level of Call of
Duty or Medal of Honor. Make
the initial game have six playable
characters, the first six that
were released. With the
purchase of the 3 new characters
per wave and the codes from all
3; new down loadable content is
unlocked. This new down loadable
content will include all three new
characters as new playable
characters on the game. This is
possible, the COD franchise has
proven this.
Step 7: Customizable Characters
I would bring back the "Flag
Point" redemption idea, to entice
the buyer to purchase all of the
figures.  I would give the buyer
the chance to redeem 12 unique
"Flag Points"  for a "Steel
Brigade" type figure. When the
purchaser receives the figure
the new character would be
immediately available on the
video game!!

I am not a marketing genius but
would be happy to share my
consumer ideas with Hasbro!!!
